Equal treatment and opportunities for men and women, in accordance with the Spanish Constitution. The authorities develop equality policies with a view to preventing social and work-related discrimination against women.

A body supervised by the Catalan government and which is responsible for formulating, promoting and evaluating women's policies. The Institute's duties include ensuring that women are taken into consideration in all the policies and activities of the Catalan government and its administrative bodies, opposing gender-based violence through specific programmes and encouraging women to form and join associations and organisations.
