Cooperation between schools and families is very important for the education of your children. It is therefore recommended that you, as parents, actively participate in the education community (comunitat educativa) at every phase of the learning process, from nursery school to compulsory secondary education (ESO).
There are various ways to participate:
Through Associations of Parents of Pupils (Associacions de Pares i Mares d’Alumnes or AMPA).
Through school councils (Consells Escolars).
By being a class representative (Delegat/Delegada de curs) in Catalan, depending on whether a representative is male or female respectively).
It is also possible to get involved through interviews with teaching staff (teachers, head teachers, tutors, etc.), who are available to provide you with information, guidance and answers to any queries you may have on how the school works and the socio-educational development of your children. Such encounters may take the form of a personal interview (entrevista individual) with a single family or of a meeting with parents (reunió de pares), attended by the mothers and fathers of all the children in a class.
