Reception Guide

Pupils who successfully complete compulsory secondary education (ESO) may choose to continue studying between the ages of 16 and 18. There are two options open to them:

• Vocational training (formació professional): intermediate vocational training (Cicles Formatius de Grau Mitjà) and, subsequently, advanced vocational training (Cicles Formatius de Grau Superior). These courses provide training that leads to qualifications for the purpose of exercising a profession.

•  Higher secondary education (batxillerat) : this option provides access to advanced vocational training or university education.

Students who do not successfully complete compulsory secondary education can register for social guarantee programmes (Programes de Garantia Social), which prepare them to find a job.
