This website is an initiative of the General Directorate for Immigration (Direcció General per a la Immigració) of the Catalan government. Its purpose is to provide basic information for people who have recently arrived in or intend to emigrate to Catalonia.

If you are one of those people, the Catalan government wants to help you to integrate into our society and to become independent as soon as possible. This website is a resource that can make it easier for you to do so. Nonetheless, you will also need to make an effort in terms of wanting to be part of the Catalan society that we are developing. Learning our language, Catalan, and respect for our basic values and rights are part of your side of the mutual commitment we aim to establish. 

Particular care has been taken to select content that you may find essential when first settling in. When translating that content, we have adapted it to the concepts that are most closely related to your linguistic and cultural context. The resulting translations are thus not literal, but rather conceptual interpretations.
