LAW ON RECEPTION FOR IMMIGRANTS AND RETURNEES TO CATALONIA

LA LLEI D'ACOLLIDA DE LES PERSONES IMMIGRADES I LES RETORNADES A CATALUNYA

The Parliament of Catalonia, in session from 28 April 2010, passed the Law on reception for immigrants and returnees to Catalonia an initiative that we offered as a toolkit to promote personal autonomy and facilitate access to full Catalan citizenship.

The law establishes the application, in Catalonia, of a first reception service which will allow us to establish a first contact with the culture, the language and the job market in this country just following the arrival and, in some cases, from origin countries when begin the migration project. This personalized service ensured linguistic competence acquisition on basic Catalan, our host-language, and in Spanish. We also receive information about labor market, on Catalan society and its legal framework, as fundamental rights and duties and legislation on immigration.

The goal is to help us incorporate in a social environment, unknown to us, further insight into our rights and duties in Catalan society to facilitate our social integration.
